Objective:
Stronger Together 2021 was the third major fundraiser conducted virtually in light of COVID. YWCA Utah was celebrating 115 years of service in the state while also simultaneously ushering in a new chapter for the organization. Though the shift had been gradual, it was critical that we were bold in our commitment to our full mission to eliminate racism and empower women. The campaign featured a hybrid event, virtual fundraising, and a robust video campaign highlighting the stories of staff and volunteers.
End-to-End Video Production
Traditionally, Stronger Together features remarks from the CEO. This event marked the third time that the new CEO was unable to give remarks in an event setting. It was critical to continue building her voice and presence in this work. I secured equipment, managed video, sound, and lighting, and fully scripted the CEO’s remarks. In post-production, I sourced b-roll from stock libraries and archival libraries at the YWCA, found music, and did sound post-treatment to account for an unfortunate mic and audio mishap during production. The video was our most well-received campaign and is still brought up by potential donors in donor stewardship meetings.
Additional Video Production
As part of the campaign, I worked with the creative services team at Comcast. Alongside their team, I selected employees to feature, questions to ask, and accompanied the production team on site for a ten-hour shoot. I felt that it was important to highlight the stories of staff, many of whom had weathered the trials of COVID on the frontlines as part of a direct service provider and homeless shelter. I recognized a consistent comment in every hiring process I had been part of from staff: the love of the mission. I worked alongside Comcast to make sure that that throughline was salient and YWCA branding and tone was maintained.
Print Materials
As the first hybrid event of the year, I worked alongside the Events & Membership Manager to build a grab bag for individual supporters to pick up during a drive-thru breakfast in an effort to maintain the spirit of the event. This included donation cards, stickers, decals, tickets, and thank you cards. I developed a simple design motif to run throughout the print materials while ensuring that the decal, stickers, and thank you cards could remain evergreen to help offset printing costs by increasing the life of those items.
